Information about San Cayetano Town Murcia

History of San Cayetano, Torre-Pacheco

San Cayetano town in Murcia , is located very close to the Cabezo Gordo and between the towns of Avileses, the Mirador, San Javier, Dolores de Pacheco and Balsicas.
The town of San Cayetano is crossed by the Mirador highway in an east-west direction, and by the road that separates the municipal terms of Torre-Pacheco and San Javier, north-south, between which it is divided.

After the distribution of land in the 18th century, there are areas in Campo de Cartagena with little or no inhabited spaces.
This is the case of San Cayetano, of which there are no references to settlement until the 17th century, in which its church is documented.
At this time there is evidence of the construction, by the Theatines, of a hermitage for their congregation, a group of Italian friars created in the 16th century around Saint Cayetano, patron of Divine Providence, and of whom the new enclave would take its name.
San Cayetano, has also had its little political and bureaucratic history.
He has had parade dependents of the mayor of Torre-Pacheco, who were concerned with the bureaucracy and the political and urban affairs of the town. T
he church was run by mayordomos, a group of prestigious men who dealt with these matters in ancient times. As already mentioned, the church had many things of value within it, which shows that this field has been, apparently rich and above all fervently Catholic.
Currently, San Cayetano is a town essentially dedicated to agriculture, standing out for its broccoli, melon, artichoke, lettuce, watermelon, etc.

With the property boom of the 2000s, Taray built a nice residential with houses and apartments attracting new neighbours to the town, either national and international, bringing to the town a very nice atmosphere where residents and non residents can enjoy together a welcoming life being only a few kilometres to the beaches of the Mar Menor, just a few minutes from the International Corvera Airport and easy access to the main cities, Cartagena and Murcia.
